Swaying palm trees. Waves kissing the rocky shoreline. It’s easy to see why Catalina Island is called the “Island of Romance”. Valentine’s Day tends to be a busy time on Catalina. We’ll help you navigate some of the best dining location, plus we have some activity suggestions that are great for a romantic weekend in the prettiest spot in SoCal.
Bluewater Avalon is serving up a special food tasting on Tuesday evening to get the celebration started. Oysters and champagne set the mood at this eatery on the sea. Enjoy the view of the stars and the sound of the ocean while you float away on the bubbles. Reservations are still available for Tuesday nights event, Foods of Love, which begins at 6:30 PM. Through the end of February, you can order similar oyster options and pair them with champagne or wine from the regular menu. Caviar is also available through the end of February with 48-hour advanced noticed. Reservations are recommended over the holiday weekend. Call (310) 510-3474.
Seaport Bistro is re-opening just in time for the holiday weekend. Sample Chef Greg’s savory menu, including his delicious Paella and award-winning Fried Chicken. The crew at the Bistro has also added on a Lean & Green menu this year, so a dining celebration doesn’t have to ruin your figure. This is the kind of meal that deserves dessert – make sure you try some of Chef’s house made cake or ice cream. Call (310) 510-3663.
M Restaurant by Zest is one of our favorites. We’ve highlighted their menus before and will continue to as long as Chef Kathleen Vojkovich-Bombard is sharing her creativity in food and drink creation. This week’s pop-up event is “Taste of Catalina” for Valentine’s Day weekend. We’re looking forward to Manchester Farms Quail with herbed goat cheese stuffing and Harp’s Calomondin quail jus plus The Board – we love Buffalo sausage. Their cocktail menu rotates for every pop-up event’s theme. The “On the Rock” Margarita looks amazing!! Call (310) 510-8404.
There are plenty of other amazing restaurants that will be serving up their traditional menus – we love Steve’s Steakhouse for the view, service, and food. Maggie’s Blue Rose is great for the margaritas, house made salsas, and people watching, Live music is sure to be happening at most of the bars in town. It promises to be a lively few days.
