Spring is springing up all over and Avalon is no exception. This March, the Catalina Island buzz is all about celebrating the new season.
Catalina Marathon – One thing that isn’t new this spring is the Catalina Marathon. For more than four decades this “bucket list” marathon has been attracting endurance runners eager to take on Catalina’s spectacular terrain and rugged course. This year’s Catalina Marathon is scheduled for March 10
Community Planting Day – Thanks to the Avalon Rotary and several dozen volunteers, Avalon will be looking a lot more green this spring. The service club will be hosting a Community Planting Day on March 21, adding a number of new plants to existing city planters. They will also be allowing community members to get in on the garden renovations by offering wholesale prices on plants to the public. Expect to see plenty more gardens growing after the planting.
Springfest – For more than a decade, the Catalina Island community has come together each spring and fall to raise funds, celebrate community and have fun. With an array of games, music and food scattered along Crescent Avenue, Springfest brings locals and visitors alike together to enjoy the season. Mark your calendars for Thursday, March 29.
Spring Art Fair and Craft Festival – Catalina artists and artisans abound and there’s a great way to get a good look at all their creativity. Wander along Crescent Avenue between March 3 and April 1 during the Spring Art Fair & Craft Festival and you’ll discover an assortment of home décor, jewelry, art and more.
Community Easter Egg Hunt – The young – and those that love them – won’t want to miss the annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 31 in Avalon Canyon. The fun starts at 10 a.m. — Don’t be late, or you’ll miss the stampede.
