Catalina Buzz — Get in the spirit of the season with just a few of the many holiday happenings dotting the Catalina Island calendar of events.
Catalina Museum film – We’ve come to rely on the Catalina Island Museum for helping us get in the spirit of the season and this year is no different. On Dec. 8, don’t miss A Christmas Story at the Avalon Theatre, which will also feature a visit from Santa, holiday music and plenty of holiday cheer.
Christmas craft boutique – Let’s face it, there’s nothing like buying hand-made items for your holiday gift shopping. You get the joy of giving, the satisfaction of supporting local artists and the thrill of finding something truly unique to give as a gift. This year Overlook Hall will be showcasing local crafters and their creations at the First Annual Christmas Crafts Boutique. Scheduled for Dec. 8-11 & Dec. 15-18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, this boutique will showcase Catalina’s creative spirit.
Christmas Play – Check out That’s the Spirit, an old-fashioned whodonit farce at the Avalon Schools Auditorium from Dec. 14 to 16. The play will be staged at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Tour of Lights – For those who love Catalina Island, there’s nothing quite so Christmas-y as the homes around Avalon decked out in their illuminated finery. Check them all out on Dec. 23 with the Tour of Lights from 5 to 9 p.m. Take a ride for just $5 and enjoy the lights and cheer. Dress warm and the tours depart from Wrigley Stage
New Years Eve – While there’s plenty going on before Christmas, don’t forget the biggest party of the year – we certainly won’t be. Whether you’ll be celebrating in your finest or wandering through Avalon’s best dive bars, Catalina Island for New Year’s Eve is a party not to be missed.
