Our friendly island crew shares their Catalina favorites.

Title: Owner & Founder
What is your Catalina story: I moved to the island to run a bakery and stayed to do the same in addition to running a historic B & B, start a food tour company & an online sales and reservation tour company!
Favorite place to get a drink on Catalina Island: It changes from year to year, season to season, but right now the Locker Room – local sports bar – it’s football season 😉
Favorite restaurant for dinner on Catalina Island: When I am craving a steak, Steve’s Steakhouse and Seafood is the way to go – their filet is mouthwatering or the hibachi steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms that we serve on tour is a favorite as well.
Favorite restaurant for appetizers on Catalina Island: Newly revamped – El Galleon – the Firecracker Shrimp – I dream about it!
Favorite restaurant for lunch on Catalina Island: I mean if I want a view I could go to Bluewater and get their ahi salad or poke appetizer. If not, I head to the Lobster Trap for their poke as well. If I am hanging out on the beach, then Avalon Seafood is my definite go to – grilled yellow tail over sticky rice with lots of soy sauce on the rice and tartar sauce to dip the fresh fish – is your mouth watering yet?
Favorite place for breakfast on Catalina Island: Well, I am biased since we own Catalina Coffee & Cookie Co., so it’s definitely my go-to for breakfast. However, I love that I can get my faves every day, all day! Veggie frittata with roasted veggies on top, add side sauces of red salsa and chipotle mayo – yum! My other go to is gluten-free bun with egg, bacon & roasted veggies with chipotle mayo as well. And don’t forget my iced French vanilla drip coffee with vanilla creamer please – addicted much? Why yes!
What’s your favorite #catalinafoodie event: I would have to say the town wide Taste Around Event would be my favorite. CatalinaFoodie is on the scene via our Instagram and Facebook stories for everything we are trying that night via photos and vids.
What’s your must-do tip for visitors to the island: It’s hard to pick just one thing. I really enjoy walking the hour trail (can get instructions from the Catalina Island Conservancy for this hike), kicking my feet up at Descanso Beach Club while being served lunch & a cocktail – their impact mojito or local lobos are two of my faves, as well as bar hopping in the evening with my girlfriends. As far as night life: the first Saturday of every month a local favorite band called Something plays at the Locker Room, usually live music is played every Friday night at the Marlin and during high season Gill plays at the Cantina – solo guitarist with a fantastic voice, featuring mostly classic rock, but you can ask him to play anything really!
